Events and Parties in Viterbo
Macchina di Santa Rosa
One of the most spectacular and heartfelt events in Viterbo is the Macchina di Santa Rosa, which takes place every year on 3 September. This religious procession sees the transport of a 30-metre high, 5-tonne heavy tower through the streets of the city, illuminated by thousands of lights and carried on the shoulders of a hundred men called 'Facchini di Santa Rosa'.
San Pellegrino in Fiore
San Pellegrino in Fiore is a festival held every year in Viterbo during the bridge of 1 May. The medieval quarter of San Pellegrino is transformed into a flower garden with artistic installations and flower stands. It is an event that celebrates spring and the beauty of flowers.
Festivals in the Villages of Tuscia
Every town in Tuscia has its traditional festivals, many of which celebrate local products:
Chestnut Festival in Soriano nel Cimino: Celebrated in October, this festival offers tastings of chestnuts and typical dishes, as well as historical re-enactments.
Oil Festival at Canino: In December, this festival celebrates new olive oil with tastings, visits to oil mills and markets.
Hazelnut Festival in Caprarola: the Hazelnut Festival is celebrated at the end of August and offers a week of events, including tastings of hazelnut products, shows and markets.
Vallerano Candle Night: at the end of August, during this evening, the village is lit exclusively by thousands of candles, creating a magical atmosphere. The event also includes concerts, shows and tastings of typical products.
